Grey hair may look age wise, but not everyone likes to look older. Covering it up is one quick way to turn back the clock and look younger. But what causes grey hair? As you age, your natural production of pigment slows down and your natural colour loses its colour strength.

This doesn’t happen to every hair at the same time, so the contrast between the hair with no colour and the hair that still has some colour causes it to look grey. So how grey your hair actually looks is determined by the percentage of strands with no colour vs. the pigmented strands. Grey hair can be resistant to hair colour, due to a decreased amount of melanin.

Melanin contains metals such as iron; zinc and magnesium that help the dyes develop. If you want to colour grey hair completely, your hair may need a full 45 minutes to completely colour grey hair and depending what you like afterwards we can make a gorgeous combination of highlights/lowlights.

Once you’ve decided on a colour, first time colour users should most definitely see a professional in our salon. Not only will you be guaranteed a professional colour and finish, you’ll also avoid any first time mistakes, such as ending up with the wrong shade or staining your skin, furniture and clothes.

Your stylist will also be able to let you know if the colour suits you and what can be done if it doesn’t (such as slightly changing the tone or mixing it up with a range of other colours). Your stylist will also be able to advise the best way to apply the colour (permanent tint, semi-permanent etc) to suit your hair type and lifestyle. Don’t worry; at Tsiknaris Hair we will meet all your needs! You are in the hands of a professional!

Colour prices may vary due to hair length, please take advantage of our complimentary “In Salon” price consultation.
